Maynard Irwin Evensky, 88 of Memphis, TN, died on September 21, 2018 at Methodist Hospital Germantown. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances Silberstein Evensky and is survived by his sister, Elaine Berkow (Bruce) of Boynton Beach, FL, his sons, David Evensky of Livermore, CA and Devin Evensky of Memphis, TN, his stepdaughter, Lorraine Wolf (Herbert “Bert”) of Germantown, TN, his stepson Edmond “Eddie” Denaburg (Vicki) of Mountain Brook, AL and his six step-grandchildren whom he loved as his own, Jonathan Wolf of Nashville, TN, Joseph Denaburg of Birmingham, AL, Aaron Wolf of Atlanta, GA, Matthew Denaburg of Mountain Brook, AL, Isaac Lurie and Troy Lurie of Memphis, TN.

Maynard was born in Memphis, TN on April 19, 1930 to Philip and Anne Evensky (both of blessed memory) and along with his sister, was raised in Tyronza, AR and Memphis, TN. After graduating from Central High School and later Memphis State College where he was a member of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity, Maynard served in the US Army in Germany rising to the rank of Specialist Second Class during his two-year tour of duty. Upon his return to Memphis, he joined the Dave Dermon Insurance Agency eventually becoming a part owner until its eventual acquisition by Clay & Land and remained there until suffering the first of two strokes in 2014. A lifelong member of the congregation now known as Anshei Sphard Beth El Emeth and a 32nd degree Mason, Maynard was active in the community serving on the board of the Memphis JCC for many years. Recalled by many as a true gentleman, Maynard will be greatly missed by his family, many friends, community and his synagogue.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm., Sunday, September 23, 2018, at the Anshei Sphard cemetery (2160 Airways Blvd). The family requests that any donations / memorials be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
