Joe Shankman was born on December 23, 1897, in Russia. He had two sons and two daughters with Lena (Chasha Baila) Margolin between 1925 and 1934. He died on June 30, 1979, at the age of 81, and was buried in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jacob Shankman left, 74, eldest of a family of nine, left the family birthplace in a little Russian village before the youngest, Joe Shankman (right), 53, a retired Memphis developer and builder, was born. They are seeing each other for the first time in their lives this week. Jacob, as an adventurous lad of 14, traveled through Europe, finally came to America and settled in California. The others followed, all except Mrs. Henya Kricun (center) of Buenos Aires, making their home in Memphis.

Mrs. Kricun soon and Joe are together for the first time in more than 32 years after Jacob went to Buenos Aires to bring his sister up for the Memphis reunion. They will all be together for a reunion dinner for the first time tonight at the home of Joe’s daughter, Mrs. Mervin Kleinfeldt, 2247 Alameda. The two other brothers are Sam Shankman of near Raleigh and Aaron Shankman of 955 Leath. Other sister is Mrs. Sarah Shankman Glaser of 605 Melrose.
