Harold Cohn passed away at Belmont Village in Dallas, Texas on February 17, 2022. He was 95 years old.

Harold was predeceased by his wife of 66 years Bernice Saperstein Cohn.

Harold was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 31, 1926 to Albert Cohn and Dora Greenfield Cohn. He is predeceased by a sister Estelle Cohn Goldstein.

He grew up in Somerville, Tennessee where he played high school football. However, he was most interested in entertainment and played drums in an orchestra in Memphis and Nashville, where he lived for a short time. He also moved to Los Angeles where he attempted to obtain work in movies. He returned to Memphis and married and later participated in Jewish Community Center theater productions and was an avid theater go'er.

He owned and operated several dry goods stores called COHN STORES in Somerville, Bolivar, Mason, and Selmer, Tennessee, and Byhalia and Hernando, Mississippi, with a main warehouse in Memphis. After downsizing, he later retired .

He was a congregant of Baron Hirsch Congregation and enjoyed his participation there.

He leaves four sons: Bill Cohn (Cheryl), of Frisco, Texas, Stuart Cohn of Brooklyn, New York, Andrew Cohn of Dallas, Texas, and Mark Cohn of Dallas, Texas. He leaves 3 grandchildren: Ari Cohn (Hazel) of Chandler, Arizona, Aaron Cohn of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Barbara Cohn Weems (Blake), of Austin, Texas. He also leaves two great grandchildren.

Funeral service and burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, February 21 at Baron Hirsch Cemetery, 1499 Rozelle St., Memphis, TN 38106.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donation be made to Baron Hirsch Congregation or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
