Susan Jacobson Goldberg, age 52, of Birmingham, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2005. Susan was a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of the University of Georgia. While in Atlanta, she taught at the King Springs Elementary School. She later moved to Birmingham in 1976 where she was a member of Temple Beth-El and taught at the Birmingham Jewish Day School. Susan was a leading volunteer in the Birmingham Jewish Community for 25 years. She was currently serving as president of the Birmingham Jewish Federation and had served as past president of both Hadassah and the Jewish Day School. In addition, she served as Federation Community Relations Chair, Campaign Chair, and was the recipient of the Joanie Bayer Young Leadership Award. Other notable memberships include the National United Jewish Appeal Young Leadership Cabinet and Leadership Birmingham. She visited Israel numerous times as part of her volunteer work. She also served in many other organizations in leadership roles. She and her husband, Edward, were both honored by State of Israel Bonds for their leadership and achievement.
