Steven R. Freeth Sr. DOWNSVILLE - Steven R. Freeth Sr., always known as Randy, 66 years old, passed away gracefully at Otsego Manor, Cooperstown, on Dec. 12, 2012. Randy was born on July 5, 1946, in Yakima, Wash. He spent his young life in Queens and then served in the U.S. Army. Randy traveled across the U.S. with his dog, Sam, before settling down in Downsville. He worked as a logger along with his faithful dog and guardian, Tanya. Randy loved being in the woods and he deeply loved his pets and family. He is survived by his daughter, Amy Fountain (Freeth), MD, of Cooperstown; son-in-law, Steve Fountain; his grandchildren, Sara and Natalie Fountain; his son, Steven Freeth Jr.; his sister, Marta Cardenas of California and brother, Eric Freeth of Idaho. He was predeceased by his first wife, Emily Evensky in 1973; his second wife, Nikki Freeth in 2010; his father, Stanley Freeth; his mother, Helen Noga; his mother-in-law, Evelyn Murtagh; and his loyal four legged companions, Big Red, Sam, Tanya, Holly, Jasmine and Boomer. The family will hold a private service. Memorial donations may be made to the Otsego Manor Serenity Place Activity Fund at 128 Phoenix Mills Crossroad, Cooperstown, NY 13326. A special thank you to all of the wonderful people at Otsego Manor Serenity Place, who gave exceptional care and brought real moments of joy to Randy's life. Randy's smile will live on in our hearts.
