When Bertha (Blema) Rothberger was born on July 20, 1897, in Hungary, her father, Moricz, was 50, and her mother, Karolina, was 35. She married Sam (Abram) Goodman (Rowinski) on April 14, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio. They had three children during their marriage. She died on February 23, 1984, in Beachwood, Ohio, at the age of 86, and was buried in Sheffield, Ohio.
Bertha Goodman, 86, a former Lorain resident, died this morning at Menorah Park Nursing Home, Beachwood, after a long illness.
Mrs. Goodman was born in Austria-Hungary.
She was a member of Augadath B'Nai Israel Temple, Lorain, the Temple Sisterhood and was a life-member of Hadassah.
Her husband, Sam, preceded her in death.
She is survived by sons, Kenneth and Jerome, both of Lorain; a daughter, Mrs. Jerome (Loretta) Borstein of Shaker Heights; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Walter Frey Funeral Home, Lorain. Rabbi Robert Bronstein will officiate.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetary, Lorain.
Mourning will be observed at the home of Kenneth Goodman, 777 W. 38th Street, Lorain.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Agudath B'Nai Israel Temple Endowment Fund.
