Harry Leon Baum was born on February 18, 1885, in Warszawa, Mazowieckie, Poland. He married Fannie Katz Baum on June 18, 1916. He died on February 18, 1967, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 82, and was buried in Fort Worth, Texas.
