Margaret Johnston Schaefer entered into eternal rest on November 25 2023 after being surrounded by her family in care and with love.

She was born in Memphis Tennessee on July 3rd 1940 to David Clement Schaefer and Dorothy Johnston Schaefer. The family moved to Atlanta when she was a child. She attended Druid Hills High school and Emory University where she met and married her husband Thomas Leroy Johns Jr. Later divorced, they remained cordial and friendly. She found great adventures in the Friendship Force in the years thereafter - traveling extensively to other countries and hosting many from abroad when they traveled to Georgia. She often described it as a highlight of her life. She spent many years on Longboat Key Florida and loved the beach. She was a gourmet cook and astounded many with her culinary skills. In her last years, she lived in Atlanta at Campbell-Stone in Sandy Springs, a community for which she had tremendous gratitude. She had many good times and laughs playing Scrabble and cards with the many friends she made there. She loved to sit on her porch and watch the birds. Most memorable is her gentle spirit, empathy and resilience. She is greatly missed and forever loved.

She is survived by her children Margaret Susan Johns of Tampa, Florida and her son Thomas Bradford Johns MD and his wife Lauren Stone. Also by her beloved grandchildren Rowen and Ethan Johns and Kelsey and Madison Foster.
